"Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body..." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Romans 12:1 tells us that we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God which is our reasonable service. Sometimes, I believe we think we are doing God a favor when we praise Him. We were created to praise God and we praise God with our bodies. We praise God by clapping our hands, singing songs and hymns and dancing. Psalms 150 says, "Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord." Don't get praise confused with worship. We can only worship God in spirit, but we praise with our bodies. If our bodies are not in good condition, we our not giving our best to God. If you remember, in the Old Testament, during the times of animal sacrifice, God required a sacrifice without blemish. He wanted the best. God has not changed. He still wants our best, but instead of animal sacrifices, He wants us (our bodies). We must clean-up our temples so that they will be presentable for God to dwell there. You know how we do when a special guest or relatives are coming to visit. We get everything spotless and ready for them because we want to make a good impression. We should feel even more compelled to prepare for the presence of God in our temples (our bodies).
Many of us are are exhausted, over-weight, over-worked, sick, worried, frustrated and cannot sleep at night. We spend time on everything but our bodies. We must begin to eat healthy foods and do exercise on a consistent basis in order to prepare our bodies for God. We must have balance. We can't nourish our spirits and souls and neglect our bodies. Get information on a nourishing diet and a good exercise regimen and ask God to guide through the process. Unless you feel good, you will not be able to do God's work.
